Short answer: a turnkey fertilizer plant costs from USD 55,000 for liquids and from USD 95,000 for compacted granules, reaching USD 350,000 for 5 to 10 t/h plants. The price depends mainly on the type of fertilizer and the capacity. Below is the list of plants with prices, what each includes and what you need to add separately.
Roller compaction plants
They compress powdered salts and raw materials with a double roller, then crush and screen the sheet to get the granule. They use little water and need only light drying.
- MKPF-R12: 1 to 2 t/h. USD 95,000.
- MKPF-R35: 3 to 5 t/h, 110 kW. USD 185,000.
- MKPF-R510: 5 to 10 t/h, 220 kW. USD 350,000.
They include grinding, mixing, double-roller compactor, crusher, screens, light dryer, cooler, elevators and control panel.
Liquid fertilizer plants
These take the lowest investment and the least electricity per liter produced, since there is no granulating or drying.
- MKPF-L2030: 2,000 to 3,000 L/h, 25 kW. USD 55,000.
- MKPF-L5080: 5,000 to 8,000 L/h, 45 kW. USD 110,000.
- MKPF-L100150: 10,000 to 15,000 L/h, 75 kW. USD 195,000.
They include raw material tanks, stainless steel mixing tanks, agitation, heating, dosing pumps, filters and a filling system. To see the equipment one by one, read setting up a liquid fertilizer plant.
Plants quoted on request
- Disc granulation (1 to 2 t/h, 3 to 5 t/h, 5 to 10 t/h): the usual option for organics and NPK. It has a rotary dryer, cooler and dust collector. See granulated organic fertilizer.
- Bulk blending (from 3 to 5 t/h to 20 to 30 t/h): combines already granulated fertilizers such as urea or DAP into the formula each customer asks for. It does not make granules, so it uses less energy.
How the cost per capacity falls
Taking each plant's average capacity, with the prices above:
- Compaction: the 1.5 t/h plant costs about USD 63,000 per t/h; the 4 t/h, about USD 46,000; the 7.5 t/h, about USD 47,000.
- Liquids: the 2,500 L/h plant costs about USD 22 per L/h; the 6,500, about USD 17; the 12,500, about USD 16.
The big jump is between the smallest plant and the next one. After that, scale barely lowers the cost further: size by what you can sell, not by the unit price.
The math: how much each one produces
At 8 hours a day, 22 days a month and 12 months, each t/h produces about 2,100 tons a year. The MKPF-R12, at its average capacity, makes 3,170 tons a year; dividing the investment, about USD 30 per ton of the first year. That is only the machine: raw material and sale price define the business result. To calculate it, use the fertilizer plant profitability calculator and the sizing tool.
What to add separately
The product pages for these plants list process engineering and layout, installation supervision, automation, training and commissioning: confirm in the quote what applies to your case. You should also budget for:
- Freight and customs, depending on the destination country.
- Building and civil works. The MKPF-R35 measures about 20 × 10 × 7 meters and weighs 14 tons.
- Electrical connection. Above 100 kW, check the power available on site before buying.
- Working capital. In fertilizers, raw material is paid for long before you sell. It is often what gets underestimated the most.
- Registrations. Plant permit and registration of each product.
Conclusion
First define which fertilizer you will sell and how much you can place: that gives you the type of plant, and the price follows. Meelko, an American brand of agro-industrial machinery, offers turnkey fertilizer plants and individual granulators for those building the line in stages.
