In extrusion the rated capacity of the machine is for dog kibble: with small dies for cats it yields 10% less and with floating fish feed, 20% less. This tool starts from the tonnes you want to sell and returns the extruder needed, the dry mix going in, the water the dryer must evaporate and the conditioning steam.
Fine mill down to 1 mm, mixer for a homogeneous premix, belt dryer at 90-120 °C, coater for fat and palatant, cooling and bagging. Each with its kg/h.

It is the same machine with another die and expansion control. The difference is yield: with 2-4 mm holes it produces fewer kg/h, so it is sized with 20% margin.
Steam conditioning improves gelatinization and kibble quality. Small lines can run on water only; from 300 kg/h steam pays off, about 80 kg per tonne of mix.
Extrudate leaves at 22-28% moisture and must reach 8-10% to keep. The dryer evaporates about 180 kg of water per tonne of product.
