Which pellet mill to buy

The usual question: flat or ring die, electric or tractor PTO. There is no single answer: it depends on the capacity you need, the power supply you have and whether the tractor can stay at the plant all shift. This comparison builds the viable alternatives for your data and ranks them by total three-year cost.

How it compares

For each technology it picks the Meelko model that covers your capacity and calculates energy per tonne (kWh or diesel), die and roller wear by material, investment and the cumulative three-year cost. It flags as not viable those that do not work with your supply or tractor.

Flat or ring die?

Up to 800 kg/h per machine the flat die is cheaper and simpler. Above 1,000 kg/h the ring die uses less energy and wears less per tonne, and pays back in two or three years of production.

Is the PTO worth it?

If you already own a tractor and produce on the farm, yes: it is the lowest investment. If the tractor is needed elsewhere or production is daily, the electric one is cheaper over time.

What is the R-type?

Flat die with rotating rollers instead of a rotating die: it compresses wood and hard biomass better. Costs more than the standard flat die.
